What is a Flanged and Dished Head?

A Flanged and Dished Head (Abbreviated F&D) is a tank head Formed from a single metal plate, A Dished Crown that carries the internal Pressure; A Flanged Rim at the edge, which makes it easy to weld to a cylindrical shell.

Because the Crown and Rim are Formed from one Piece Steel Plate, an F&D Head is Strong, Leak-Free, and Simpler to Fabricate than Multi-Piece Designs. This is Why it is a common choice for Storage Tanks, Air Receivers, and Pressure Vessels, etc.
